What VA Community Care Means for Veterans Near The Woodlands

Veteran and military family meeting with the Detoxity team about VA Community Care massage in The Woodlands, TX
Detoxity welcomes veterans and military families in The Woodlands.

The VA Community Care Network lets eligible veterans receive certain care from approved community providers instead of traveling to a VA facility. For many veterans in Montgomery County, Spring, Conroe and north Houston, that can mean shorter drives and more flexible appointment times.

Community care is not a walk-in benefit. The VA decides whether a veteran is eligible, which service is appropriate, and which community provider the care goes to. Once the VA authorizes care with Detoxity, we schedule your visits and coordinate with your VA team along the way.

Right now, Detoxity provides two services to veterans through VA Community Care: medical massage therapy and manual lymphatic drainage.

Massage Therapy for Veterans at Detoxity

Massage therapy is part of the VA's whole-health approach to care, which looks at physical comfort, stress and everyday function together. Your VA provider may consider massage when you are dealing with muscle tension, chronic pain, limited mobility, or the physical toll of stress.

At Detoxity, medical massage is focused and goal-driven rather than a generic spa session. Our licensed massage therapists review your referral, ask about your history and comfort level, and adjust pressure and technique to what your body needs that day. Many veterans also appreciate a calm, private room and a team that never rushes them.

What a massage visit can support

Muscle tension and tightness, stiffness that limits daily movement, recovery after physical strain, and relaxation that helps the body settle out of a stressed state. Your goals and your VA authorization guide each session.

Manual Lymphatic Drainage for Swelling and Lymphedema

Manual lymphatic drainage is a gentle, rhythmic technique that encourages lymph fluid to move toward healthy drainage pathways. It is very different from deep tissue massage. The pressure is light and the strokes follow the direction of lymph flow.

Your VA provider may recommend lymphatic drainage for lymphedema, swelling after surgery, or other conditions where fluid builds up in the body. Our physician-supervised team includes a certified lymphedema therapist (CLT), and our lymphatic drainage therapists are trained in medically informed techniques for swelling and lymphedema.

Lymphedema is a medical condition, so your VA team stays at the center of your care. We follow their guidance, watch for changes, and let your providers know if anything needs their attention. Veterans recovering from a procedure can also read our post-surgical recovery massage page.

How to Get Referred to Detoxity Through VA Community Care

  1. Talk with your VA care team. Ask your VA primary care provider or care coordinator whether massage therapy or lymphatic drainage through community care is right for you.
  2. Ask for Detoxity by name. Let your VA team know you'd like to be seen at Detoxity Holistic MediSpa in The Woodlands, TX.
  3. Wait for VA approval. The VA confirms your eligibility and sends an authorization for the specific service and number of visits.
  4. Call Detoxity to schedule. Once your referral is approved, call us at 832-745-3320 and our front desk will set up your first visit.

Please note: Care must be authorized by the VA before your appointment. Coverage, eligibility and the number of visits are decided by the VA, not by Detoxity. If you're not sure where your referral stands, our front desk is happy to help you figure out the next step. Detoxity is not part of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

Veterans Save 18% on Regular-Priced Services

Simply show your military ID or VA card at check-in. No VA referral is needed for these self-pay services.
